Super Large Marine Hammer Core Forging Piece, Successfully Forged!

Recently, the 450-ton steel ingot special marine hammer core forging piece, which was manufactured by Shangzhong Casting and Forging Company under Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group, was successfully forged. After the final heat treatment and dynamic measurement, it was confirmed that the forging piece's dimensions met the process requirements.

The innovative process used in this forging was independently developed by the Large Casting Department of Shangzhong Casting Company and the Forgings Branch. The R&D team designed new cutting risers, pressing handles and compaction processes for 450-ton steel ingots, which increased the amount of forging work completed per firing cycle and improved the compaction effect. Compared with the traditional process, the new process reduces the number of firing cycles, shortening the production cycle by approximately 50%, reducing forging energy consumption and labor costs by about 40%, while ensuring the quality of the forgings and achieving a double improvement in efficiency and benefits.
